1. About this statement
This statement is made by Orbix Technologies Ltd, trading as RecruitCrew, and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chain. Our turnover is currently below the £36 million threshold at which a statement is required by section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, so this statement is published voluntarily.
2. Our business
RecruitCrew is a software platform that connects schools in the United Kingdom directly with self-employed education professionals. We do not employ the staff who work shifts, we do not pay them, and we do not operate as an employment business supplying labour for a margin. Schools pay staff directly for work agreed between them.
3. Where the risk sits
Our assessed risk is low but not nil. The areas we watch are:
- Registered individuals whose right to work or identity documents may have been obtained or controlled by someone else.
- Third parties attempting to register or control accounts on behalf of other people.
- Suppliers of software, payment and professional services we buy from.
4. Steps we take
- We verify identity and the right to work in the United Kingdom for every registered person before any shift can be offered, and record the outcome manually.
- Each person holds their own account and their own bank details. We never allow a third party to be paid on their behalf, and we operate no payment rail between RecruitCrew and staff.
- Rates are shown in full before a shift is accepted. No fee, margin or deduction is taken from a staff member’s pay by RecruitCrew.
- Staff set their own availability and choose which shifts to accept, so no one can be assigned work without agreeing to it.
- We act on any sign of coercion or control, including duplicate bank details, shared contact details across accounts, or a third party communicating on someone’s behalf.
5. Reporting a concern
Report any suspicion of modern slavery, trafficking or labour exploitation to us at support@recruitcrew.co.uk. Where someone is at immediate risk, contact the police on 999. The Modern Slavery Helpline is available on 08000 121 700.
6. Training and review
Everyone in the RecruitCrew team who reviews documents or accounts is briefed on the indicators listed above. This statement is reviewed annually and approved by the directors of Orbix Technologies Ltd.
